Weight Management Clinic - open now!

Talk to Melvin Pharmacy about starting your weight loss journey today.

As obesity affects approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK and is becoming increasingly prevalent, it is important that support is widely available for those trying to lose weight.

Melvin Pharmacy's medicated weight management service can help you reach and maintain a healthy weight.

You'll have your first face to face consultation with Sarah or Siobhan, our in house pharmacists, who will explain how the service works and how to use it effectively. This program is only suitable for certain patients.

Who is the service suitable for?

The service is available for people aged between 18 and 75, whose body mass index (BMI) falls within a specific range.

The service may be suitable for you if:

  • Your BMI is 30 or above
  • Your BMI is 27 or above and you have one underlying weight-related health condition (for example diabetes, high cholesterol or hypertension).
  • You have failed to lose weight by dieting and exercise
  • You want to use medication to help with your weight loss journey.

Find out more and calculate your BMI on the NHS website.

The program is not suitable at this time for people who do not meet the above criteria, or are a diabetic. Certain pre existing conditions may mean you cannot join our program

You will have a consultation with a pharmacist to check the service is suitable for you, before receiving your weight loss treatment. You won't be charged until you've completed your consultation and the pharmacist has confirmed the service is suitable. The cost is then non-refundable.

The medical treatment available on our weight loss service is Mounjaro.

How the consultation process works

  • Book your appointment online or telephone the pharmacy.
Select a date and time that suits you. Unfortunately this service is currently only available a limited number of days per week. We cannot provide the service outside these times.
  • Go to your first in-pharmacy consultation
One of our pharmacists will check the medicated weight management service is suitable for you and explain how it works.
They will need to take some measurements from you, including your:
    • weight
    • height
    • blood pressure
    • waist circumference (this measurement is optional).
If the service is suitable for you to use, you'll pay for your weight loss treatment at this appointment.
  • The pharmacist will take the time to find out about your previous weight loss attempts, and what went well and what went not so well. We will discuss diet and exercise and set weekly and monthly goals. The pharmacist will discuss mental health and weight loss. We believe this holistic support will enable everyone that uses our program get the most benefit.
  • Weekly phone check-ins for the first month
A pharmacist will call you every week for the first month, to check how you're getting on with your treatment and answer any queries you may have.
  • Monthly in-pharmacy consultation
You'll go back to the pharmacy each month to check your progress and that the service is still suitable for you, before paying for your next month of treatment.
